ORT Operates A Worldwide Network Of Over 800 Schools
ORT, the Organization for Educational Resources and Technological Training, is a non-profit organization for individuals who want to gain the skills for better careers. The organization has a long history as a center that gives men and women the opportunity to advance to professional careers through various programs.
ORT operates a worldwide network of over 800 schools and colleges, with more than 200,000 students in 60 countries. In Los Angeles, the Los Angeles ORT College was established in 1985. The college is approved by California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, and is nationally accredited by Accrediting Commission for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET). Los Angeles ORT is also approved by the United States Department of Education to participate in federal financial aid programs for the low-income students and the eligible new immigrants to the United States.
“We are here to meet the educational and vocational needs of young adults or individuals who would like to secure their future in the career of their choosing. If you have high school diploma or GED, and are 16 years old and above, we can help you prepare for new career,” said Flower Park, the Community Outreach Representative. She wants to help recent high school graduates who can’t find a job because of the current job market, with a career training to help them start a good paying career. She said her job is to reach out to under-employed and to give them an opportunity to find financial security.
ORT offers various short term intensive programs in the morning or evening sessions. Individuals who are busy during the day could come to evening classes to learn for career development or learning English. The areas of study include Associates of Applied Science Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Medical Office Management, Medical Office Management, Computer Graphics, Computer Aided Design & Drafting, and Pharmacy Technician. “We help many recent immigrants from Asia and Europe to find jobs after completing their programs at Los Angeles ORT, despite the ailing economy. I am proud of what ORT offers to them.”
