Phlebotomy Training Schools in Los Angeles Certificate Program
The Phlebotomy certificate program meets the requirements of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for a full didactic instruction towards state certification of Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1). Upon successful completion of this program the students will be ready for National Certification Examination & Certification as a CPT-1 phlebotomist. For a CPT-2 level phlebotomist, the students will need to satisfy additional on-the-job training & supervised arterial punctures at the workplace, as required by CDHP.
The Phlebotomy certificate program provides the student with a Phlebotomy certificate for individuals who are seeking to work in the Medical Clinical Laboratory industry. This 175-hour program consists of the following subjects:
Graduates of the Phlebotomy certificate program will be ready for employment in all related positions typically within a Physician‘s Office Laboratory (POL), state, local, and private hospitals, clinical laboratories within medical centers, and/or standalone facilities. Students wishing to take the National Certification Examination (NCCT) and apply for CPT-1 license within the state of California may work as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1) which allows students to work as a licensed phlebotomist in laboratories, medical centers, hospital and private clinics with a laboratory.
Phlebotomy Training Schools in Los Angeles Entrance Requirements
Students must obtain a passing score on the LA ORT entrance exam and be interviewed by the admissions department for the Phlebotomy certificate.
LA ORT students are trained on the appropriate equipment consistent with the demands of the job market.
Phlebotomy Certificate in Program Length
This Phlebotomy certificate program may be offered in the mornings or evenings. The morning sessions is taught 5 days per week for approximately 8 weeks. In the evenings, this program is taught 4 evenings per week for approximately 11 weeks. This is an 8-semester credit hour program with 175 hours of instruction, laboratory and externship.
