Administrative AssistantMerging technology and advanced English language skills, this unique program enablesany second language learner to continue their acquisition of English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing, while gaining an intensive orientation to all areas of office procedures including Introduction to the Internet, Advanced Microsoft Office Suite, Technical and Business Writing, Oral Fluency and Development, phone answering skills, Business Communication using e-mail software for scheduling and e-mail management, advanced vocational English listening and speaking skills, as well as linguistic subtleties and conventions.
Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant program of the College has an overall objective to prepare the student for an entry level position in the medical field with an emphasis on back office clinical procedures. Students become certified in CPR as well as taking a patients temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight and measurement.
Pharmacy TechnicianThe Pharmacy Technician program of the Institute is designed and built on actual pharmacy technician performance expectations. After an orientation of pharmacy practice, students learn the computer’s role in both institutional and retail pharmacy settings.
The Medical Office Management of the Institute is designed to prepare students for entry-level medical office support roles. Emphasis is placed on general secretarial skills and medical office knowledge and procedures. Microcomputer skills are developed to enhance office productivity, as it applies to Medical Office word processing, transcription, data entry, medical record filing, medical insurance billing, accounting and/or Medical Office Management.
Computer GraphicsThe Computer Graphics program of the Institute has an overall objective to prepare the student for an entry level position in the graphics field with an emphasis on print and web design. Students learn the principles and elements of design while creating projects on their desktop computer workstations.
Computer Aided Design and DraftingThe CADD Program of the institute is designed to prepare students in computer aided drafting to become proficient entry level CADD operators using the AutoCAD program. The program covers all of the corresponding 2D CADD functions for traditional drafting, as well as advanced 3D modeling now made available by CADD.
English as a Second LanguageThe ESL program at LAORT provides students with the language skills necessary to become successful members ofthe American society. Students experience a nurturing learning environment and the best instruction possible.
