Perseverance: Key to Successful Job Search
Hearing “no” is not the same as failing. Remember this while you are searching for a job because you may hear it a few times in the beginning. Job searching can be stressful. If you are looking for your first job ever, don’t lose confidence. Rejection is normal. It doesn’t mean that you are not good enough. It just means that you have to keep on going – if you know your goal, you will reach it.
From Rejection to Success
All successful people have one thing in common. They continued even when they were rejected. They didn’t let difficulties stop them from making their dreams come true.
So, yes, “no” is a normal part of job searching. Once you accept it, you can move forward. Rejection is common. To avoid frustration, just stay positive and patient.
It is important not to lose faith and joy while searching for a job. If it looks like everyone around you is easily getting jobs, don’t get mad at them. Talk to people and ask them what they are doing. Maybe you will get an idea to change something in your approach. Let other success stories be a source of inspiration.
Believe in Yourself
Rejection can shake your confidence. But don’t let that happen – if you don’t believe in yourself no one else will. When one door closes, another door opens. Every “no” is just another step toward something even better. So, keep applying. Don’t let difficulties stand in your way! And most importantly, don’t take it personally.
There can be many reasons why you didn’t get the job. It may have nothing to do with you or your skills, so stop doubting yourself. And in the end – maybe it was not the right job for you. You need to keep going until you find a job that will make you truly happy!
You can actually use rejection to succeed. It can help you improve your approach. If you think about your interviews, you can do something better next time. If you think you made a mistake or that you could have done something better, learn from that experience. Be flexible and creative. When you observe every “no” as an opportunity, you are on your way to success. You have failed only when you have stopped trying.
Before a Job Interview
If you are nervous when going for a job interview, ask yourself what is the worst that can happen. That would be not getting the job. So? You’ll try again! When you stop being nervous, it will show during your interview. Just by looking on the bright side, you will be closer to getting the job!
It is also important to prepare yourself for interviews. You can prepare answers. You can also prepare questions to ask during the interview. You can practice the interview with friends. They can tell you how you sound. It is important to change your CV a bit for each application and write new cover letters.
Perseverance is all about trying until you get the result you want, but determination is having the will to succeed. Having both can get you far. Combine this with optimism, and there’s the key to getting your dream job!
