The Best Places to Study

    Your home can be a great place to come back to at the end of a hectic day but it is not always the easiest place to study. While Los Angeles is surely a busy city, it also contains a lot of great places to escape and get work done! Whether you’re looking for a place to perk up, be surrounded by nature, or find some peace and quiet, we’ve got a list of the best spots near LA ORT to study:

Coffee Shops:
    A great place to go to study comes with all the necessary supplies to help you through. There’s no
place better-equipped to keep you going when you really need to buckle down and focus than a coffee shop. Los Angeles is full of hip, hole-in-the-wall coffee joints great for studying. The Garden Cafe (6240 Wilshire Blvd) is a little Mediterranean spot only a minute walk from LA ORTs main campus. There, you can sip on their assortment of reasonably-priced coffee drinks while you hit the books. Another great spot, only a 4 minute walk from LA ORT’s main campus, is Caffe Latte (6254 Wilshire Blvd). This cute little shop proudly serves breakfast all day. If you’re looking for a place near the Van Nuys Campus, Won’s Coffee Shop (14440 Gilmore St) is a long-standing gem of the Valley. With delicious American and Cantonese food and fresh coffee served all day, this place is certainly a perfect choice to settle down for a good study session.

County and City of Los Angeles Public Library:
    Library cards for the County of Los Angeles Public Library system are given to permanent and temporary residents of California alike. You can get a library card if you have A) a California driver’s license or certificate of renewal with current address printed on the front, B) a California ID card with current address printed on the front, or C) Mexican Consular Identification card (“matricula consular”), Argentine Consulate, or Korean Consulate Identification card with current address. To get a library card with the Los Angeles City Library system, you can additionally use two of the following (one with current address and one with a photo ID): a Passport, School ID card, employee ID card, personal check, credit card statement, rental or property tax receipt, or business mail with current postmark. Library card-holders have access to books, DVDs, CDs, online databases, audio books, music downloads, computers, and wireless internet. Above all else, the LA County Libraries are great places to get away and really focus on your work. The closest branches to LA ORT’s main campus are the West Hollywood Library located at 625 N. San Vincente Blvd and the Fairfax Branch Library at 161 S Gardner St. The Van Nuys Public library is located at 6250 Sylmar Ave. Aren’t these great places to study in Los Angeles?
Parks: great places to study in los angeles
    A park can be a very relaxing setting to drown out the hustle and bustle of life in the busy city. In a previous blog post, we created a list of the best parks closest to both LA ORT’s main campus and the Van Nuys campus. Mentionable favorites to study at near LA ORT’s main campus include the Pan Pacific park (161 S. Gardner St.) which actually contains the Fairfax Branch Public Library and La Cienega Park (8400 Gregory Way) which has its own wireless internet for all to use! Great parks near LA ORT’s Van Nuys campus include Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve (6350 Woodley Ave), Lake Balboa Park (6300 Balboa Blvd.), and Lake Hollywood Park (3200 Canyon Lake Dr.). These parks are great places to study in Los Angeles and they also contain many beautiful sights to enjoy for when you need to take a break!
