The Economy is not in Recession for ORT Graduates
The recent down turn in economy and the persisting recession has raised the unemployment rate in California in excess of 12%. Many companies are laying off their highly paid and highly skilled employees to reduce their expenses. At the same time individuals with low or no skills do not seem to find any jobs.
Since the start of the recession in 2008, companies have reduced the hiring of highly educated and highly experienced employees, because they cannot meet the salary expectation of these individuals. However, to do the job, the employers cannot hire inexperienced workers to perform the tasks that require a certain level of knowledge and skills.
Recent graduates of short-term training programs and 1- to 2-year associate degree programs from reputable colleges are being hired by companies, because of their reasonable salary expectations and proven knowledge and skills as evidenced by their certificates or degrees.
One of the colleges whose graduates are successfully being hired by employers isLos Angeles ORT College. In fact, last year more than 85% of graduates of this college found jobs, within three months of completing their programs, in the areas that they were trained for. The secret is in the college’s dedication to quality training and their reputation for qualified graduates for employment.
LosAngeles ORT College is a non-profit organization and has been training qualified candidates for employment since 1985. Los Angeles ORT is approved by EDD (TAA program), Worksource (WIA), Goodwill, JVS, Veteran Administration, and Department of Rehabilitation. The college provides financial aid and scholarships for qualified students and also helps students who have just graduated from high school because many community colleges do not have room for them.
