What Is the Right Career for You?
LA ORT specializes in training students for careers in the medical, technology and business fields, but how do you know which program is right for you? And once you graduate, how should you use your new degree or certification? These questions are important to consider as you plan for the future.
Choosing a career path can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. There are two things to consider: yourself and career outlook.
Your personality, interests and goals fall under this section. If medical offices make you uneasy or you hate the sight of blood, for example, pursuing a career as a Medical Assistant may not be the best choice for you. (That sounds like a given, but many people get distracted by potential earnings, etc.)
Increase your opportunities by choosing a career path that suits your interests. When you enjoy what you do for a living, you’re more likely to thrive. The same person who cannot stand the sight of blood may love design. In that situation, our Computer Aided Drafting and Design program is better suited.
Once you’ve picked a program, there are often multiple positions you can pursue after graduation. The LA ORT Employment Assistance staff is here to help you with the next step.
If you want a little more insight: Try taking a free and fun career test online, such as the MAPP test. Tip: Don’t take tests online that cost you money! There are so many informative free ones.
There are plenty of jobs in technology, medical and business industries that offer security even in tough economic times. As a school specializing in training for these fields, LA ORT delivers brighter futures and results.
We are proud to say that our graduates will have greater opportunities after completing our programs. Still, researching current industry trends, such as average pay, is always a good idea. Many of our past blog posts break down positions LA ORT students commonly enter. You can also look up the career you’re interested in at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
